How Teams Stand After FBI Investigation

Image
The conclusion of an FBI investigation charging four assistant college basketball coaches of bribery and fraud shocked the sports world last month, leading to four different schools firing assistant coaches for their involvement in the scandal as well as Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino. Adidas paid big money to coaches to influence top recruits to play for schools affiliated with their brand, one of those schools being Louisville.      In this article, I want to look at the five schools affected by this investigation, and give you, the reader, a good look at what exactly to expect this season from these schools.  Louisville Cardinals How they were involved - Louisville was an Adidas sponsored school that paid families of top recruits over $150,000 to make sure that these players committed to Louisville. With the sanctions already laid on Louisville from the prostitutes scandal, the Cardinals Athletic Department felt it was time to let Pitino go and find another, le

NFL Deadline Trades

Image
You may correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe the NFL has had a trade deadline as crazy as this years has been. There is always big trade talk circulating, but very rarely do these rumors ever come to fruition. The trade deadline becomes more like the deadlie.      This season, it seems that star players are just being shipped around with no warning. Here are all of the trades in the 36 hours leading up to the NFL trade deadline, and what to expect from them. Seattle Seahawks Acquire OT Duane Brown from Houston for CB Jeremy Lane & Draft Picks      This was the first trade of our Monday evening, and this one wasn't too much of a shocker. Reports have been surfacing from just about every NFL insider that the Seahawks were trying to land Brown in a trade for the last month, and it's finally gone through.      The Texans were trying to move their Pro Bowl left tackle for the right price, as he wasn't even activated to the active roster until

FACTORS - Have the Miami Hurricanes Returned to Glory?

Image
Mark Richt has been a big name coach in college football for almost two decades now. After head coaching the Georgia Bulldogs for 15 seasons between 2001 and 2015, Richt was fired after a season of letdown from very high expectations and shortly thereafter hired by the University of Miami to be their next football coach. Richt took over a mess of a program, stumbling through decades of mediocrity, all the while trying to return to the glory days of the late 1980's and early 1990's.      Richt is now 16-4 as the head coach of Miami, and the Hurricanes are on a 12 game winning streak stretching back into last regular season, starting this season at 7-0. Going into this week, Miami has a chance to prove that they are for real, with a homecoming victory over Virginia Tech on November 4th.      A 7-0 start, filled with magical victories and last second scores to win, has everyone wondering if the Hurricanes are returning to their glory days of old. Are they back yet? Hav

The Bledsoe Drama

Image
Man, you have just got to love the NBA. First, you have a star player get on Twitter and post the words "I don't wanna be here." In the span of 24 hours, he's sitting in a meeting with a new interim head coach and a general manager, and they are moving him as far away from their team as they can. That's just a summary, folks, so that you can decide whether you want to read on with this article or just let it go and forget that you ever clicked on it. Phoenix Suns Point Guard Eric Bledsoe has seen a lot of change in Phoenix in his short career there thus far. He once played with Goron Dragic and Isaiah Thomas, primed to be one of the best front courts in the game of basketball. In one day he watched both Dragic and Thomas get shipped out to different teams and see success since then. Believe me, folks. This has been a long time coming. He tweeted out Sunday afternoon "I don't wanna be here." Hours later, Suns coach Earl Watson was fired, an

Lonzo Ball - Up & Coming Star or Broken Draft Bust?

Image
It's truly amazing how one game can change the way the sports media see's you.      Lonzo Ball tipped off his career to a rocky start with the LA Lakers, at home, in a 108-92 loss to their inner city rivals, the Clippers, and the sports media has been anything but soft toward the rookie. His NBA debut was a lack-luster performance, scoring 3 points, grabbing 9 boards and collecting 4 assists. He picked up a steal and a block as well, but his shooting was... well, not good. He went 1 for 6 on the floor, his lone connection a triple point shot in the second quarter, and missed both of his free throw attempts.      Former Houston Rocket bench player Patrick Beverley covered him the majority of the game, welcoming him early to the NBA with a brutal check, and reportedly screamed after the game, "Weak ass m-----f-----! Bring him on the court with me and I will tear his ass up!" People are criticizing Beverley for his comments, none more so that Lonzo's

FACTORS - Is Philadelphia Ready to Make a Super Bowl Run?

Image
I have to be extremely honest to start off this article. First and foremost, I have been an Eagle's fan for a long time. The birth of my Eagle's fandom began when I was a little tyke, watching Donovan McNabb rolling with Brian Westbrook, Terrell Owens and that strong defense led by Brian Dawkins and Jeremiah Trotter. It was Andy Reid leading Philadelphia in the prime of their tenures together, and it was the glory days of the Eagles. They went 13-3 that season, going to the Super Bowl before being knocked out of the way of a Championship by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Now I have become such an analyst of the game that generally my fandoms mean nothing to me as I want to provide clear cut analysis without any biasness. My team wins, alright it's a good day. My team looses, alright that's fine too. It could be worse. It doesn't bother me one way or another that the Eagles are doing poorly or well. Not this season. This looks to be the return of the

2017-18 NBA Preview

Image
This upcoming season show's a lot of promise as there appear to be contenders for a Championship besides Golden State and Cleveland for a fourth consecutive season. Trust me when I say that the world isn't ready to witness such an event and everyone is doing the best they can to prevent that from happening. Every season brings some new wrinkle to the NBA. At this point, everything is on paper. An entertaining pre-season has given us a good preview of the teams to beat in the NBA. TOP 5 OFFENSES  1. Golden State Warriors     Yet again, what team is more capable of scoring points then Golden State? They have four gold solid three point shooters in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Andre Igoudala. When you put that many solid three point shooters on the team, you can guarantee that the rest of the team is trying to catch up in practice. Draymond Green, Zaza Pachulia and JaVale McGee are all solid contributers in the paint, and Golden State is, yet again, on

College Football Roundup Week 6 - Best & Worst Teams

Week six in college football shook up quite a few things and created some real speculation around the country. In this article, I want to review all of those shakeups and get you set for week seven coming up next week.  Biggest Upsets Upset's keep the college football world breathing and alive. Any given Saturday (Or now Thursday, Friday or Wednesday even) can result in an upset that sends a team reeling. ALL CAPS team is the home team. This week, my number one upset is Iowa State 38 OKLAHOMA 31 This was a real shocker for more then just one thing. Iowa State was on the road, facing off against a healthy Baker Mayfield who shredded their defense and would have put up an even bigger stat line (306 passing yards, 2 TDs, 57 rushing yards, 1 TD) had he not suffered from more then one drop by his receiving corps. The Cyclones 3rd String Quarterback entered the game in the 1st quarter, and threw for 343 yards and 3 TD's all the while looking as composed as a veteran st

Why Politics & Sports Don't Mix

Image
Why we should leave the two separated and use sports as a way to join together as a country. Wednesday, Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton attended a press conference where he answered questions from local media personalities. Everything was going well and as planned until the Charlotte Observer Beat Writer Jourdan Rodrigue, who has been covering the Panthers since October of last year, asked a deep football question. "I know you take a lot of pride in seeing your receivers play well. Devin Funchess has seemed to really embrace the physicality of his routes and getting those extra yards. Does that give you a little bit of enjoyment to see him kind of truck-sticking people out there?" Newton's first reaction was to laugh, and he quickly responded, " It's funny to hear a female talk about routes. (Pause) It's funny. " Ever since that moment, the Sports Media world has blasted the Panther Quarterback for his "sexist" remarks. Thi
