Deshaun Watson Tears ACL in Practice

Image
Texans Rookie Sensation and quarterback Deshaun Watson tore his ACL in practice today during a non-contact play. It's been just four days removed from the biggest game of his career where he earned the complete respect of the NFL in a 42-39 loss to the Seahawks in Seattle. Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said that it was "the best performance ever" by a quarterback against the Legion of Boom, which is saying a lot about how impressed the Seahawks were with the rookie.      This isn't the first time he has torn his ACL. As a promising freshman at Clemson University in 2014, Watson tore his ACL in a mid November practice shortly after spraining his knee. He went on afterwards to become a top-tier quarterback in college, whom I largely spoke out against as an overrated prospect, and was the runner up twice in the Heisman race.      I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to jump on the Watson Bandwagon, because I don't care for pl...

FACTORS - Botched McCarron Trade Shows Disunity Within Browns Organization

Image
As one of Nick Saban's National Championship winning quarterbacks, AJ McCarron is no stranger to drama. A fifth round pick in 2014, he was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals to backup their starter Andy Dalton. Many projected that McCarron would never succeed in the NFL, and benefited from having a great team while playing at Alabama.      Since that time, McCarron has silenced his critics with solid performances while playing for an injured Dalton. Playing five games in 2015, McCarron made himself known with a 66.4% completion percentage, and a passer rating of 97.1 and one of the best backups (a potential starter) in the NFL.      The Offensive Coordinator for Cincinnati in 2015? Who was that? Current Cleveland Browns Head Coach Hue Jackson.      Now that McCarron enters his fourth year in the NFL, McCarron enters the last year of his rookie contract. The Cleveland Browns, who have had major quarterback issues that...

NFL Deadline Trades

Image
You may correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe the NFL has had a trade deadline as crazy as this years has been. There is always big trade talk circulating, but very rarely do these rumors ever come to fruition. The trade deadline becomes more like the deadlie.      This season, it seems that star players are just being shipped around with no warning. Here are all of the trades in the 36 hours leading up to the NFL trade deadline, and what to expect from them. Seattle Seahawks Acquire OT Duane Brown from Houston for CB Jeremy Lane & Draft Picks      This was the first trade of our Monday evening, and this one wasn't too much of a shocker. Reports have been surfacing from just about every NFL insider that the Seahawks were trying to land Brown in a trade for the last month, and it's finally gone through.      The Texans were trying to move their Pro Bowl left tackle for the right price, as he wasn't...

FACTORS - Is Philadelphia Ready to Make a Super Bowl Run?

Image
I have to be extremely honest to start off this article. First and foremost, I have been an Eagle's fan for a long time. The birth of my Eagle's fandom began when I was a little tyke, watching Donovan McNabb rolling with Brian Westbrook, Terrell Owens and that strong defense led by Brian Dawkins and Jeremiah Trotter. It was Andy Reid leading Philadelphia in the prime of their tenures together, and it was the glory days of the Eagles. They went 13-3 that season, going to the Super Bowl before being knocked out of the way of a Championship by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Now I have become such an analyst of the game that generally my fandoms mean nothing to me as I want to provide clear cut analysis without any biasness. My team wins, alright it's a good day. My team looses, alright that's fine too. It could be worse. It doesn't bother me one way or another that the Eagles are doing poorly or well. Not this season. This looks to be the return of the...

Why Politics & Sports Don't Mix

Image
Why we should leave the two separated and use sports as a way to join together as a country. Wednesday, Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton attended a press conference where he answered questions from local media personalities. Everything was going well and as planned until the Charlotte Observer Beat Writer Jourdan Rodrigue, who has been covering the Panthers since October of last year, asked a deep football question. "I know you take a lot of pride in seeing your receivers play well. Devin Funchess has seemed to really embrace the physicality of his routes and getting those extra yards. Does that give you a little bit of enjoyment to see him kind of truck-sticking people out there?" Newton's first reaction was to laugh, and he quickly responded, " It's funny to hear a female talk about routes. (Pause) It's funny. " Ever since that moment, the Sports Media world has blasted the Panther Quarterback for his "sexist" remarks. Thi...

Opinion : Undrafted Free Agents With a Chance To Bloom

Image
Every season, the NFL has it's share of undrafted rookie talents that go unnoticed throughout the draft process. Some players are simply skipped over because of injury or personality issues while others are seriously underrated or undervalued due to lack of production, playing time or are from smaller schools. There is a constant process of undrafted talent fighting the odds to become the next big cinderella story in the NFL. In this article, I want to take the time to break down some of the top undrafted rookie free agents from the NFL Draft who have the best chances of making a big splash in their rookie season of 2017. Look for these names to cross your screen on ESPN highlights or NFL.com headlines. Arizona Cardinals ~ QB Trevor Knight, Texas A&M  Trevor Knight became a household name as a young freshman quarterback at Oklahoma University following a big Cotton Bowl upset over Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide in 2013. Expected to be the next big star at Okla...

2017 NFL Draft Recap & Grades

Image
The 2017 NFL Draft was full of surprises, shocks and excitement throughout it's three days. What a great three days it ended up being. Here, I'm breaking down team by team the NFL Draft, telling you what to expect from each rookie class brought into town. Arizona Cardinals  1 13 13 LB Haason Reddick, Temple 2 4 36 S Budda Baker, Washington 3 34 98 WR Chad Williams, Grambling 4 8 115 OG Dorian Johnson, Pittsburgh 5 13 157 OT Will Holden, Vanderbilt 5 36 179 RB TJ Logan, North Carolina 6 24 208 S Rudy Ford, Auburn Honestly, it looks like the Cardinals are planning for the future. Reddick and Baker both won't start right away, but will backup seasoned veterans like Karlos Dansby and Tyrann Mathieu. Both Reddick and Baker can and will be long term starters in the future... Chad Williams has good size (6'2", 195 lbs) to play as a receiver in the NFL, however his tape shows he can't catch contesting for the ball and has hand issues. He's a long wa...
