Baker Mayfield is the NFL's Next John Elway

Image
Oklahoma senior quarterback Baker Mayfield is on track to win the Heisman Trophy after a terrific outing against their 11th ranked rivals Oklahoma State in the annual "Bedlam" game where he threw for 598 yards, a school record, and scored 6 touchdowns. No player is having a better season then Mayfield who has guided his 5th ranked team to an 8-1 record while throwing for 3226 yards and scoring 32 touchdowns.      I was re-watching a favorite movie of mine this past week, Kevin Costner's Draft Day , and they talked about the scouting report for different all-time-great quarterbacks coming out of college, how they thought Manning didn't have the arm strength, Montana was too small, and Elway didn't throw a touch ball, and how those "weaknesses" never seemed to matter. As I watched the Bedlam game on Saturday afternoon, the same thought kept coming into my head as Mayfield kept escaping pressure from a porous offensive line, throwing balls sixty ...

Opinion : Undrafted Free Agents With a Chance To Bloom

Every season, the NFL has it's share of undrafted rookie talents that go unnoticed throughout the draft process. Some players are simply skipped over because of injury or personality issues while others are seriously underrated or undervalued due to lack of production, playing time or are from smaller schools. There is a constant process of undrafted talent fighting the odds to become the next big cinderella story in the NFL. In this article, I want to take the time to break down some of the top undrafted rookie free agents from the NFL Draft who have the best chances of making a big splash in their rookie season of 2017. Look for these names to cross your screen on ESPN highlights or NFL.com headlines. 2017 NFL Draft Recap & Grades

The 2017 NFL Draft was full of surprises, shocks and excitement throughout it's three days. What a great three days it ended up being. Here, I'm breaking down team by team the NFL Draft, telling you what to expect from each rookie class brought into town. Arizona Cardinals  1 13 13 LB Haason Reddick, Temple 2 4 36 S Budda Baker, Washington 3 34 98 WR Chad Williams, Grambling 4 8 115 OG Dorian Johnson, Pittsburgh 5 13 157 OT Will Holden, Vanderbilt 5 36 179 RB TJ Logan, North Carolina 6 24 208 S Rudy Ford, Auburn Honestly, it looks like the Cardinals are planning for the future. Reddick and Baker both won't start right away, but will backup seasoned veterans like Karlos Dansby and Tyrann Mathieu. Both Reddick and Baker can and will be long term starters in the future... Chad Williams has good size (6'2", 195 lbs) to play as a receiver in the NFL, however his tape shows he can't catch contesting for the ball and has hand issues. He's a long wa...

Opinion: First Round Draft Analysis; The Winners And the Losers

Image
Last night's NFL Draft was quite the dramatic show that we love to watch. Trades, surprise picks, and burning mock drafts were all done last night with much enthusiasm to fans and analysts alike. In this article, I will give my grades to each and every pick, and tell you what to expect this season from the new class of first round rookies. Tier 1 Picks & Trades (A Grades) San Francisco 49ers Trades Their #2 overall pick to Chicago for their #3 overall, #67 overall, #111 overall and 2018 3rd round picks. (99 - A+) This was the best move of the night by far. John Lynch, in his first Draft as a General Manager, trades down one pick collecting 2 extra picks this season and another one next. It was a great move on his part, and I would have paid anything to have been in the 49ers War Room personally to see that trade go down. San Francisco 49ers #3 - DE Solomon Thomas, Stanford (95 - A) The 49ers struck gold with this pick, not just because they got the player they want...
