Obama: Deshaun Watson Is The Son I Never Had
President Obama, soon to be former President, made a startling statement to the sports world today at a white house press meeting just hours before the College Football National Championship game today.
The Alabama Crimson Tide will be playing against the Clemson Tigers in a hotly contested rematch of last season's national title game at 8:15 ET Monday, January 9th. The Crimson Tide are favored by a touchdown, and the president has made it clear who he is going to be routing for in the last championship game he will have an opportunity to see in the White House.
"I think of Clemson as I think of my administration," President Obama told the reporters assembled, "Last year, they couldn't beat Alabama because they ran out of time."
While it is true that Clemson had pulled to 5 points before giving up the onside kick with no timeouts and 18 seconds left on the clock, Alabama had already assembled a monster showing behind the iron legs of Heisman winner Derrick Henry, and had shown no signs of letting up. When the President was asked about his analogy used to describe the Clemson program, he called upon this showing. "Our entire time running this country, we have been up against the debt crisis constantly running up the score," Obama said. "In all honesty, with a little more time, we may have been able to catch up."
President Obama was asked about his fandom to Deshaun Watson, a player who may be picked by his hometown NFL team the Chicago Bears, he replied, "Well, I looked at a few mock drafts on the web, and in all honesty, I think Deshaun Watson is the son I never had. I would have been a good dad... I hope the Bears take him this year because God knows we really need a quarterback."
Watson has yet to respond to these comments made about him.
